LEADING FIGURES OF THE PERFORMING ARTS WORLD WILL BE THE GUEST SPEAKERS AND MODERATORS AT THE 31st PLENARY MEETING OF THE IETM
IN MONTREAL FROM MAY 30 TO JUNE 3,
THE FIRST TIME THE EVENT IS BEING HELD IN NORTH AMERICA

Montreal, May 14, 2007 — The organizers of IETM Montréal 2007, the 31st Plenary Meeting of the IETM, the International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts, are proud to unveil the names of all the speakers, moderators, and workshop leaders at the fast-approaching event.

To find out more about them, go to the IETM site (www.ietm.org - Meetings/Montreal/day to day program sections) where you can also download and print the PDF version of the full program.

The IETM is an international network, not a performing arts market. Its goal is to initiate and facilitate cooperation and exchange among people active in the field of live performance (contemporary dance, theatre, multidisciplinary arts, circus arts, etc.), in a global context. The diversity among the people who participate in these plenary meetings is highly stimulating and means offerings for a wide range of tastes and interests — a kind of joyful smorgasbord, if you'll forgive the gastronomical metaphor.

Here is a glimpse of a few of the speakers, moderators, and workshop leaders who will give us the benefit of their experience, stimulating exchanges and reflections at this meeting under the main theme of Cultural Warming: Robyn Archer (artist and cultural operator), Mark Russel (Under the Radar), Nikki Milican (National Review of Live Art), Annie Roy (ATSA), Olivier Kemeid (Espace libre), Marie Clements (urban ink productions), Harold Rhéaume (le fils d’Adrien danse), Leen Laconte (Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond), Roger Sinha (Sinha Danse), Philip Bither (Walker Art Centre), Judy Harquail (Opera Atelier/CCI), Kyd Campbell (Frontierlab.org, artist and independent curator), Marie Lavigne (Place des Arts), Marie-Hélène Falcon (Festival TransAmériques), Jerry Aerts (deSingel International Arts Centre), Daniel Meilleur (Les Deux Mondes), and Nicolas Reeves (Hexagram).

All the venues for the activities have also been announced. The main hubs will be Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts, and Pavillon Sherbrooke and Agora du Cœur des Sciences at UQAM. Special collaborators have also joined: Studio 303, Ex-Centris, and TOHU. The Cirque Éloize will host the closing party at its magnificent headquarters in the Gare Dalhousie in Old Montreal (reserved for registered participants).

This meeting is open to IETM members, as well as — for one time only — to individuals and representatives of non-member professional companies interested in knowing more about the organization before deciding whether to join. The public and the cultural milieu in general can be proud that Montreal is welcoming all the delegates of the IETM, the world's most important international network dedicated to the contemporary performing arts.

Biographies are available on request. Journalists interested in covering the meeting and obtaining accreditation are invited to contact Catherine Caron, Communications Director.
